I'm still a newbie but in less than 2 months I've completed Hitchhikers training and am now focused on getting Answers Free Trials live. To date, I've been assigned 8 clients and my first, California Fish Grill, went live on 6/19/20!
Generally speaking, I feel like just being a Hitchhiker is an accomplishment in itself. I'm surrounded by extremely talented individuals and working on a solution that is the #1 priority for Yext. In addition, finally seeing all my hard work come to fruition with California Fish Grill has been a huge accomplishment for me. See below for my first build and feel free to try it out yourself at https://www.cafishgrill.com.
Being a Hitchhiker has made me branch outside of my comfort zone and forced myself to take the institutional knowledge I have at Yext to an entirely new level that I never thought was possible. I feel that the skills I have in my toolbox have been upgraded and graduated into a much larger box. I'm able to be more thoughtful in how I approach conversations internally and externally because I feel that I have a much better grasp on the lifecycle of pre-sales, implementation, and post-sale at Yext.
If you think you can't be an administrator, think again. I firmly believe that anyone can do it with hard work, dedication, and curiosity.
My biggest weakness is having zero experience with programming so most of my challenges have come from understanding how to write custom functions in order to map in certain data into the front-end cards of the answers experience. In addition, styling enhancements with CSS is something I enjoy but is very much a work-in-progress/learn as you go process for me. The beauty is that you don't have to be a developer to be a Hitchhiker but learning the basics and expanding upon them will make you a wizard. My goal is to be a wizard.
