Hitchhiker Spotlight

Kristy Huang

Role: UPWARD Analyst

Previous Roles: Currently on Enablement + Hitchhikers. My previous rotations in UPWARD were Platform Services and SalesOps. Prior to Yext, I worked in Public Sector consulting at Alvarez & Marsal.

How long have you been on the Hitchhikers team?

I have been on the team for 2.5 months

What projects have you worked on since joining the Hitchhikers team?

Primarily launching AFT clients:

Bringing in my work with Enablement, I've also helped with training for the next Hitchhiker classes, building out some process docs, and sharing AFT success stories on Enablement Office Hours.

Speed Queen Implementation

What is your proudest accomplishment since joining the Hitchhikers team?

  • Creating an internal process tracker for Hitchhikers to use as an end-to-end checklist for how to launch a client + track all their existing clients (shoutout to Susie for being a great project partner!). See here.
  • Learning HTML/CSS to build the header/footer for Yext-hosted clients (particularly Centra Health and Archadeck). The client at Centra Health even commented on how surprised they were that having their search on an external domain could be such a seamless experience and how that has helped convince internal stakeholders to support the marketing team in improving their site search!
  • Launching my first client in one week (IU Health)!

How has becoming an administrator/Hitchhiker affected your career?

This is my first time in the Strategy org at Yext. It's been interesting to see another side of the company and be on the frontline for AFTs when it's such a big company priority, in terms of implementing AFTs, shaping the Answers product, and how the AFT process has evolved. I've really enjoyed all aspects of being a Hitchhiker and the newfound interest in coding and product has given me a lot to consider for my final UPWARD placement.

What is one thing people might not know about being an administrator?

So much time is spent debugging, but it pays off when you finally figure out how to get something to work. It's very rewarding being able to build something tangible like an amazing search experience for a client or for Yext - I built the internal Yext Wins library to give our revenue organization better access to best practices, success stories, and our Answers product!

Yext Wins Library Implementation

What is the toughest challenge you have had to overcome on a project?

When clients don't respond to your emails or continuously tell you they're too busy to pull the data together. For one client, they eventually declined to proceed. But for another, I was able to scrape content off their website and they were quick to respond when I sent them the staging link!
